There were 24 of us who cruised on the Jewel of the Seas the day after one of the biggest storms hit New York City. Fortunately, most of us left the day before the storm and spent two extra days in Puerto Rico!
The itinerary was awesome leaving from Puerto Rico and going to St. Johns Antigua, St Lucia, St Maarten, St Croix and Barbados on Royal Caribbean’s Jewel of the Seas. After cruising on some of the more modern and definately more up-to-date ships I really thought this would be a challenge, but the price was right (starting at $349pp and the ports of call were awesome).
We went to celebrate several birthdays and we most definately did in grand style. The ship had a few perks.... one night we had full access for our group to the disco lounge. We had a personal bartender, bottles of champagne on ice and two cakes. Guess who the DJ was…..none other than “the travelingscotts”. We threw down and even other people on the boat came in when they heard the music.
All of the ports of call were fantastic. My favorite was Barbados because there were two or three in our group who were from Barbados and pre-arranged a tour bus for the group along with music and beverages. We stopped along the way to a local restaurant where the authentic bajan food was cheap, abundant and delicious.
In St. Lucia we stayed on a local beach where there was music and food.
The ship was ok, the entertainment was ok, and the 70’s show was awesome. However my group was the liveliest and greatest of them all. We did not stay as a group the whole week, but when we did….we were “turned up” all the way!
